Shabana’s Story

Shabana, a 31-year-old mother of two, spent years struggling to support her family after her husband lost his job due to prolonged illness. With limited education and no stable source of income, she depended on occasional stitching work from neighbors, earning barely enough to manage daily household expenses. Like many women facing financial hardship, she had skills and determination, but no proper opportunity to turn them into a sustainable livelihood.

Her journey changed when she enrolled in the women skill development program organized by HIMS Foundation. Through professional training sessions, she learned advanced tailoring, basic business management, and customer handling skills. The foundation also guided her on how to market her work locally and build confidence in dealing with customers independently, because empowerment is not just about teaching skills, it is about helping people believe they deserve better opportunities.

After completing the program, Shabana started taking regular tailoring orders from her community and later purchased her own sewing machine with the income she earned. Over time, her work became widely appreciated in the neighborhood, allowing her to contribute steadily to her household expenses and her children’s education.

Today, Shabana proudly supports her entire family through her work. She has become an inspiration for other women in her area and often encourages them to learn skills, become self-reliant, and build a future where financial struggles no longer decide their dreams.
